THE ODD FELLOWS SUPPORT MANY ORGANIZATIONS and Projects INCLUDING:

af ARTHRITIS FOUNDATION:The arthritis foundation is a group that our lodge and other lodges support. Our donations go to support sending children with arthritis to attend Camp JRA along with other programs for adults.

wdWILMER EYE INSTITUTE: The Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins University researches blindness and eye care. The oddfellows actively support their actions.

 

EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES: Education is an important aspect of the Odd Fellows. We support scholarship oppertunities and Financial Aid for students hoping to gain a higher education after high school. Some of our lodge members have received these scholarships and used them to further their educations.

The Odd Fellows also sponsors an annual pilgramage to the United Nations in New York City. Through the generocity of many lodges these students are sponcored and their expenses paid. These students make lasting friendships as the travel across the northeast US and Canada. For More information, click the photo above

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier

The Soverign Grand Lodge also supports the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at Arlington National Cemetary. The Odd Fellows are the only organization that is able to do so. Each May the Odd Fellows host a pilgramage to the cemetary in honor of those who have fought for our freedom. Our lodge has been attending this event regularly filling a bus and spending the day in our nation's capital.

In Our Community

Along with supporting many major charities, our lodge also supports many local charities and organizations. We have provided support for the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, The Christian Home of Johnstown, Johnstown Christian School, Johnstown Police K9 Unit, The YWCA Pool Repair Project,The Cambria City Mission, Donations for the local food pantries, and support for local high school sports teams.

 

ODD FELLOWS MONUMENT AT GRANDVIEW CEMETERY

Alma Lodge #523 also has a monument located within Grandview Cemetary in the Westmont Section of Johnstown. In 1888 Mrs. James McMillen Dedicated four plots in grandview cemetary in honor of the former Conemaugh Lodge. In 2009, the lodge rededicated the monument following a restoration project that took place. The lodge celebrates Memorial Day yearly at the monument.
